What Parents Say
Following are some parent comments about our dojo.
Amato’s has something for everyone
By Lisa W.
I currently have 3 children studying at Amatos. My two sons are very serious about their studies. They currently are both black belts. But they are very different from each other. My oldest son has some special needs and ADD. Amatos has helped him with his focus and concentration. He excels at sparring and loves the constantly increasing challenges the instructors find for him. All of his new skills have carried over to his "regular" life as well. His grades have improved and his self-confidence is great. My youngest child loves weapons study. He is currently studying his forth weapon and the sense of accomplishment he feels cannot be measured or valued. Both boys assistant teach at times and love helping other children learn Karate.
At the other end of the spectrum, is my daughter. My daughter takes karate because we insist she have a physical activity. She does not excel in any one aspect of karate. However, her self-confidence has grown by leaps and bounds since she started. She used to be bullied at school and on the bus, now, mostly because of the way she carries herself BECAUSE OF KARATE, she is left alone. Her performance in school has greatly improved with her ability to focus on school and not being picked on. I have to admit her overall feeling of happiness and accompishment has grown because of her studying at Amatos.
All three of my children have achieved success at Amatos, but unique to their own needs. All three have had different goals and hoped to achieve different things with karate and Amatos is able to meet each of their goals.
It doesn’t matter what level your chld is at, or what their special needs may be. Amatos instructors are able to offer something for everyone and offer each child the chance to feel successful and accomplished. All my children have been lucky to study at Amatos Academy.
Excellent instructors, diverse classes
By Barbara L.
My family has been taking karate lessons at Amatos now since the early summer of 2007, and we can whole-heartedly recommend them.
Not only are the instructors superb wrt to teaching children (they really get them to excel!) but the adult classes are topnotch as well (Aikido, Kendo, Nunchaku, Tai-chi, Self-defense etc.). Our first lesson there was free, too.
